|God is the Redeemer of mankind. The meaning of redeem is to buy, or purchase, in order to receive power over an object that was formerly the power of another. In the Old Testament, certain things could only be redeemed by a Kinsman, and were redeemed as a 'take everything' or 'leave everything' package. For example, the man Boaz wanted to take the widow Ruth as his wife, but as there was a closer Kinsman, he had to make an agreement with that Kinsman first. The other Kinsman wanted the land that came with redeeming Ruth, but did not want to redeem Ruth (which would have required him to have children with her), so he forfeit the right to redeem the land by refusing to redeem Ruth. Boaz then inherited Ruth and the land.

In the New Testament, Jesus Christ became a kinsman by being made under the law in the form of a man. He then became our redeemer through the shedding of his blood for our sins.
|The Holiness and Unity of the Lord are tied together. Not only is the LORD Holy, but he is the Holy One. Throughout the Old Testament, God is called Holy, and the Holy One. The Messiah is shown to be none other than God when King David prophecies that "thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption." (Psalms 16:10)

In the New Testament, Jesus is called the holy child, God is called the Holy Father, and the Spirit of God (the Spirit of Christ) is called the Holy Ghost. The nature of the Hebrew word Kadosh and its use in the Old Testament reveals that to be Holy, Jesus, God, and the Spirit must be one. The scriptures go even further to say "be holy, for I am holy" (Leviticus 11:45, I Peter 1:16) and "For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy:" (Romans 11:16). |For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
|- valign="top"
|ACTS 3:13-15
|The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
|- valign="top"
|MATTHEW 27:46
|And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
|- valign="top"
|EPHESIANS 3:4-5
|Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
|- valign="top"
|MATTHEW 4:1
|Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
|- valign="top"
|MATTHEW 12:18
|Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
|- valign="top"
|JOHN 4:24
|God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
|- valign="top"
|LUKE 4:14
|And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
|- valign="top"
|LUKE 10:21
|In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
|- valign="top"
|LUKE 24:38
|And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
|- valign="top"
|JOHN 3:5-8
|Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
|- valign="top"
|JOHN 3:34
|For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
|- valign="top"
|JOHN 4:23
|But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
|- valign="top"
|JOHN 6:63
|It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
|- valign="top"
|ACTS 2:17-18
|And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
|- valign="top"
|ACTS 11:28
|And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.
|- valign="top"
|ROMANS 8:23
|And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
|- valign="top"
|ROMANS 8:26-27
|Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
|- valign="top"
|I CORINTHIANS 2:4
|And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
|- valign="top"
|I CORINTHIANS 6:17
|But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
|- valign="top"
|I CORINTHIANS 6:20
|For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
|- valign="top"
|I CORINTHIANS 12:4-13
|Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
|- valign="top"
|I CORINTHIANS 15:45
|And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
|- valign="top"
|II CORINTHIANS 1:21-22
|Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
|- valign="top"
|II CORINTHIANS 3:6
|Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
|- valign="top"
|II CORINTHIANS 5:5
|Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
|- valign="top"
|GALATIANS 3:2-5
|This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
|- valign="top"
|GALATIANS 3:14
|That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
|- valign="top"
|GALATIANS 4:29
|But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
|- valign="top"
|GALATIANS 5:5
|For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
|- valign="top"
|GALATIANS 5:16-18
|This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
|- valign="top"
|GALATIANS 5:22-25
|But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
|- valign="top"
|GALATIANS 6:8
|For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
|- valign="top"
|EPHESIANS 2:18
|For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
|- valign="top"
|EPHESIANS 2:22
|In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
|- valign="top"
|EPHESIANS 3:16
|That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
|- valign="top"
|EPHESIANS 4:4-6
|There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
|- valign="top"
|EPHESIANS 5:9
|(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
|- valign="top"
|EPHESIANS 5:18
|And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
|- valign="top"
|EPHESIANS 6:17-18
|And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
|- valign="top"
|PHILIPPIANS 3:3
|For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
|- valign="top"
|I THESSALONIANS 5:19
|Quench not the Spirit.
|- valign="top"
|II THESSALONIANS 2:13
|But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
|- valign="top"
|HEBREWS 9:14
|- valign="top"
|I PETER 1:2
|Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
|- valign="top"
|I PETER 3:18-19
|For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
|- valign="top"
|I JOHN 3:24
|And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
|- valign="top"
|Son of
There are a number of reasons why Jesus is called the Son of God:

#Jesus was a Son of David, who was a Son of Adam, who was a son of God.
#Jesus was a created seed in the womb of the virgin Mary, making him a Son of God (like Adam).
#The book of Job records that the "sons of God" came before the LORD, and Satan was among them. "Sons of God" therefore refers to heavenly beings, rather than earthly beings.
#God is a spirit, and the Son of God must also be a spirit. Jesus' spirit was torn from his body at Calvary. Before he ascended into Heaven, Jesus said that he would ask the Father to send the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, to teach his disciples so that he would abide with them forever. Jesus also said: "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ. Jesus was telling his disciples that he would come in another form: the form of God (a spirit) rather than in the form of a Man (a body).
#When King Nebuchadnezzar threw three Hebrews into a furnace, he saw four "men" walking around, and the fourth was "like the Son of God". The fourth man was in the form of a man, but looked like an angel: perhaps his face shone just like when Jesus was transfigured before Peter, James and John.
#Paul said: "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." (Romans 8:14) As the Christ, the anointed Messiah, Jesus was led by the Spirit of God (which was inside him), and was the Son of God.

|The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; (Mark 1:1)
-----
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: (Romans 1:3-4)
-----
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. (Hebrews 4:14)
Commentary by William Branham
God is a Spirit
:Jesus speaking to the woman at the well, He said, "God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and Truth." Is that right? If God made man in His own image, what kind of man did He make then? A spirit man.
::Sermon: Q & A, Jeffersonville, IN, May 15, 1954

The Son of the Father
:Jesus couldn't have been His Own Father, and if God is a Man, then Jesus was born sexual desire and not virgin birth. That settles the whole thing. You see? If He's one like your finger's one, then what? Then He was His Own daddy. How could He have been? That's wrong. He had a Father, Jesus did.
::Sermon: Lord, Show us the Father and it sufficeth us, Chicago, IL, Sept, 7, 1953.

:Now, Jesus being man, physically, was tired, weary. Now laying there, tired; virtue had gone from Him. And then Him being God, He could only do what...
:Now you say, "How could He be God and be man?" See, there is the mystery. See, in body He was man, in Spirit He was God. See?
:Someone asked me, said, "Then how did, Who did He pray to in the Garden of Gethsemane?"
:I said, "I'll answer you that when you answer this: Do you believe you have the Holy Ghost?"
:"Yes"
:I said, "Then Who do you pray to? Where is He at when you are praying to Him? When, you claim you have Him, and yet you're praying to Him." See? People just... they just get some little idea and run wild with it, you see, that's the way it goes.
::Sermon: Calling Jesus on the scene, Chicago, IL, Aug 4, 1963

:"I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that in His body He was a man. He was borned of a woman just like I was. But His Blood was not of a woman; It was of God. And Jehovah God, the Logos, Who brood over the earth (in my message this morning), and brood the first man out of the dust of the earth, overshadowed Mary, and brood over her to fulfill His Word, and created the Blood cell that brought forth the Son of the living God. I believe in a body He was man. I believe in His soul He was God. He was God's manifestation here on earth. God was in Christ, reconciling Him--the world to Himself. I believe that He was not just a mere man, neither was He a prophet; He was God Emmanuel. I believe with all my heart, that being truth.
::Sermon: God keeps his Word, Jeffersonville, IN, Jan 20, 1957

The Logos
:God, in the beginning, was Spirit. And then, from God, went out the Logos, or the theophany, which was a form of a man, called the Son of God, prefigured. He came in earth, in a body of flesh, even before He came in Jesus Christ. Now swallow that one once, brother. I'll prove it to you.
:When, when Moses saw Him. He said, "Let me see Your form, Lord." And God hid him in the rock. And when He passed by, he said, "It was the back part of a man." That was that theophany. That's exactly.
:Then, that theophany had to be made flesh. Not another Person, but the same Person had to become flesh, to take the sting out of death.
::Sermon: Hebrews CH. 4, Jeffersonville, IN, Sept 1, 1957

:Remember, our Lord Jesus Christ never did identify Himself as the Son of God. He said, "You said I was; to this end I was born," and so forth, but He never identified Himself.
:And, now, that was the Pillar of Fire that led the children of Israel, was the Lord Jesus Christ in Spirit form, (do you believe that?) the Logos that went out of God. [Congregation said, "Amen."--Ed.]
:And then when He was on earth, He said, "I come from God, and I go to God." We all know that.
:And after His death, burial, and resurrection. Saul of Tarsus was on his road down to Damascus...the Pillar of Fire again, struck him down, in the middle of the day. And a Voice said... "I am Jesus Whom thou persecutest; and it's hard for you to kick against the pricks."
Every man, with the exception of the first man Adam, is a son of man. In the Old Testament the prophets Daniel and Ezekiel were called "son of man" by the angels. In the New Testament, Jesus calls himself "the Son of man". This does not mean that Jesus was the son of Joseph, but that he was a man, born of a woman, just like every other man.

Adam had authority over the whole earth, and lost that inheritance. Jesus, as the Son of Man, has the authority to reclaim that inheritance.
And that was the prophecy that they should receive Him in, in the name of the Son of man, a Prophet, because it was according to the Word. Deuteronomy 18:15, "The Lord your God shall raise up a Prophet likened unto me." And when He come, He identified Himself in His ministry as a man, not a Son of God, Son of man! God is a Spirit. And He revealed Himself as Son of man, what He claimed to be. And they was blinded and couldn't see it.
The promise of the Revealing of the Son of Man
:Jesus, when He come, He was to be a prophet. That's right. And today, before Jesus comes again, the full manifestation of the Person of Jesus Christ is to be manifested in flesh. Think of it. Jesus said, "As it was in the days of Sodom, so shall it be at the coming of the Son of man, when the Son of man is being revealed." What is revealed? Unfolded, made known. The secret had been brought forth, revealed. In the day that the Son of man will be revealed, the world will be in a Sodom condition.

:'Now, after His death, burial, and ascension, and the coming of the Holy Ghost, Paul on his road down--which was Saul--to Damascus, he was struck down by a Pillar of Fire, the Logos. And that Jew would've never called that Pillar of Fire, "Lord," unless he knew It was the same Logos that his people followed through the wilderness. See? Now, that was not the Son of man; that was the Logos.
:Now, we say this with reverence, and love, and respect. See? As Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever, and also that in the last days, as it was before Lot's time, or in Lot's time in Sodom, so shall it be in the day that the Son of man reveals Himself again, revealing Himself.

:He said, "As it was in the days of Sodom, what was it? A human being standing there with the Spirit of God in It, that said, "Abraham, where is your wife, Sarah?"
:Said, "In the tent behind you." And she smiled to herself.
:He said, "Why did she laugh?"
:Jesus so much as said this, "That same thing will take place just before the fire falls to destroy the whole world. As it was in the days of Sodom, so shall it be in the coming of the Son of man." Oh, if you will just believe it.
Jesus declared, but hidden in mystery
:Jesus when He started out, He started healing the sick and afflicted. "And oh, that great Rabbi, He's a prophet." And everybody wanted Him in his church, but when He set down one day and said, "I and My Father are One," that was different. That was different. That was different. "And except you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink His Blood, you have no life in you." "Why, he's a vampire." See, see? That was different. He didn't explain it. They'd already seen the manifestation, the a-vindication of the Word of God for His age made real and proved to them that He was that Messenger of that age. And He didn't have to explain nothing.
The Son of Man is a prophet
:He come as Son of man, a prophet, because that fulfills the Scripture. Moses said, "The Lord your God shall raise up a prophet like unto me." We all know that was Jesus. Don't we? So He had to come according to the Scripture, a prophet.
The Obedience of Christ
:Listen to what Jesus said. "Verily, verily..." that means "absolutely, absolutely," I say unto you, the Son can do nothing in Himself. But what He sees the Father doing, that doeth the Son likewise." Amen. Do you see, it isn't in man. It wasn't in the Son of man. It's in God. No flesh glories in His Presence. Jesus said, "I can't do nothing until the Father shows Me a vision; and when I see a vision, then I do it."
|Son of
Jesus is identified in the New Testament as the Son of David, the Son of Abraham, the Son of Man, the Son of God, the Son of the Blessed, and the son of peace. Jesus is also mistakenly supposed by others to be the Son of Joseph, and the Son of Mary.

Son is another word for seed, or offspring. In the Eastern cultures, sons and servants were placed under the direction of tutors. If a son demonstrated the ability to manage the affairs of the father, he would join his father upon the approval of the tutor in a process called 'adoption'. If the son was not competent (or yet too young), the affairs of the inheritance passed to the servant until the time that the son was able to posess all things. The office of a son therefore includes responsibility, demonstration, and inheritance.
Commentary by William Branham
Three offices of the Son
:Remember, He comes in three son's names. He came first in the name of the Son of man. He never called Himself the "Son of God." You know that. See, He came in the Son of man, a prophet. Jehovah Himself, the Father, called Jeremiah, "son of man"; a prophet is son of man. He come...
:Now He come after the Day of Pentecost, He come back in the form of the Holy Ghost, supernatural Spirit. Now He's Son of God.
:In the Millennium He'll be Son of David, setting upon the throne of David. See, He come in... He's Son of God, Son of man, Son of David.
::Sermon: Modern Events are made clear by prophecy, SBD, CA, Dec 6, 1965

:As the Son of David He's a Heir to the throne. As the Son of Abraham, He's a Heir to the royal grant. Amen. Is that right? He's a Heir to the royal grant (Amen), Palestine and all that's in her. Abraham's Seed, He was a Son of Abraham.
:As the Son of man, what does Son of man... What did man lose? He lost the earth. So as the Son of man He's a Heir to everything in the earth. All this He's got and has to give it back to us, then He's returning back as He was. He...
:Now, then, as the Son of God He inherits all things. As the Son of David He's Heir to the throne; as Son of Abraham He's Heir to the royal grant; as Son of man He's Heir to the earth; as Son of God He's Heir to all things in heaven and earth. Oh, my. That's our Redeemer, our Kinsman Redeemer.
Every Son has a Tutor
:In the Old Testament when a son was borned into a home, he was a son when he was borned. He become a son when he was borned into a home. And the ordinary, typical, oriental home in those days, the son was giving a place and a tutor that raised the child. Paul beautifully speaks of it in the New Testament, that how the tutor was to raise the child, and we were... The law was a tutor to bring us to Christ.
::Sermon: Hidden Life, Chicago, IL, Oct. 6, 1955

:And how typical that is of our heavenly Father. When His children is born into the Kingdom, they're not given a bishop, neither are they given any earthly person, but God the Father has given the best tutor the Church could have, the Holy Spirit, as a raiser of the Church. "When He comes He will teach you and guide you into all truth," the Holy Spirit.
::Sermon: Hear Ye Him, Indianapolis, IN, June 11, 1956

The report of the Tutor
:And now, when this duty of this teacher of raising the son, was to bring word to the father how he progressed. And his conduct determined his inheritance. If he was a good son, he would inherit all the father had. If he wasn't a good son, then he got nothing; he wasn't worthy, yet he was a son.
::Sermon: Hear Ye Him, Indianapolis, IN, June 11, 1956

:How shameful it must be as Ezra, the prophet, blushed before God, that the Holy Spirit must have to blush before the Father of the conduct of His children, how that--how sin has crept into the church. The things that goes on in the church today, that we call ourselves the church of God... I don't want to hurt you now, but I want to help you.
::Sermon: Hear Ye Him, Chattanooga, TN, March 1, 1958

:Wonder what the Holy Spirit says when He comes before the Father with the character of some of His people here on earth? When He goes up there and He says, has to say, "Father, Your daughters are wearing men's clothes. They're bobbing off their hair."
:..."Anybody tell them about it?"
:"Yes. They're staying home on Wednesday night to watch, "We love Susie," or ever what that thing is. They won't go to church; they go fishing on Sunday morning, instead of going to Sunday school."
:...Now, that child in the Old Testament, he never had any inheritance. Why, the father couldn't trust him with anything. What kind of a fellow would he be? But he couldn't trust him; he's always a son, but he never had any inheritance. And if you don't watch, Pentecostal church, that's going to be our lot--no inheritance.
::Sermon: Hear Ye Him, Yakima, WA, Aug 6, 1960

Adoption: the inheritance and authority of the Son
:But if he was the right son, and the son that would obey his father, then that son was adopted or placed positionally. He become heir of what the father had. And that's what God was doing on Mount Transfiguration, when He took His own Son, after He'd been proven to be the right Son (See?), and had stood all temptations. He took Him up on Mount Transfiguration and overshadowed Him. You know, in the Old Testament they took a son, dressed him in a nice pretty garment, and set him out before the public. And they had a ceremony of placing, or we call it adopting. In Galatians there. I kinda think Paul refers to it as adopting sons.
|HEBREWS 1:1-9
|God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
|For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. |Prophet Priest King
A Priest is a mediator between God and man. Aaron, the brother of Moses, of the tribe of Levi, was the first priest in the Old Testament. All subsequent priests were from the tribe of Levi. As ordained by Moses, Aaron and all subsequent priests had specific duties to fulfill, all of which were types of the coming Messiah. These duties included:
col-begin
col-break
*Anointing, and being anointed
*Authority to partake of a portion of the sacrifices
*Care for the lamps in the tabernacle
*Consecrating, and being consecrated by water, blood, and time
*Consecration and purificaton of the holy vessels
*Consecrating priestly garments
*Duty to sacrifice, examine the sacrifice, and cleanse the sacrifice
col-break
*Examine leprosy, and declare healing or banishment
*Make atonement for sins
*Prove the reputation of women (if questioned)
*Receive tithes
*Separate a Nazarite from his vow
*Valuation of wealth
*Wave the firstfruits offering the morning after the sabbath

While Jesus is called "mediator" a number of times in the New Testament, he is only called a priest in the book of Hebrews. However, his office as a priest and his relationship to Melchizedek (the priest of the Most High God, who blessed Abraham) are discussed extensively between Chapter 2 - 10 of this Book.

Jesus Christ is the only Mediator
:I asked that priest, I said, "Why did any... If Peter was the first pope?"
:He said, "That's right."
:I said, "Then why did Peter say, 'There's no other mediator between God and man but that Man Christ Jesus.' And you've got five thousand dead women and everything else you're making mediators. Now, what's happened?" There you are. They ain't got an answer for that. That's right.

The power of our confession
:He's the High Priest of our confession. Therefore, He cannot do anything for us until first we confess that He has done it. And then when we confess it, then He is the High Priest, a Mediator to go to work on that and make it right. So we pray, trusting in God tonight, in His kindness and mercy, that He will give to us His abundance of grace tonight.

Christ the Sacrifice Lamb
:Now, we could spend much time this afternoon, in explaining that, which would be just reviewing what we already know, that how Christ foreshadowed in the types the sacrificial Lamb, how it must be kept up, a male without blemish, and how it must be killed by the elders, and how that the blood must be sprinkled on the door, all foreshadowing the coming of Christ. And under this shed blood was the place that God met the worshipper, when the Death angel passed through the land.

The order of Melchizedek
:Just look at this: "Where the forerunner is for us entered in, entered, even Jesus..." The Forerunner of what? The Forerunner of our salvation, physically and spiritually: "For He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquity, the chastisement of our peace upon Him, and with His stripes we were healed." The Forerunner of our salvation has already entered in. The assurance... already "entered, even Jesus, made a high priest forever after the order of Melchisedec."
::Sermon: Melchisedec the Great Prince, Jeffersonville, IN, Jan 9, 1955

:In the Old Bible they had a way to find out whether it was the truth or not. They had in their Mosaic laws they had what they called the Aaronic priesthood, and then the Levitical priesthood, rather, and Aaron was the high priest carrying...on his breast, the stones of each birth of the patriarchs. They hung that breastplate up. And then it was called the Urim Thummim. And when a prophet prophesied, if he went to the Urim Thummim, and he told his prophecy, or told his dream, and that supernatural lights didn't reflect back in a conglomerations of light, then, I don't care how good it sound, it was wrong. They refused it. All good teachers knows that, that they--they refused it. It had to witness to the Urim Thummim. And now, of course when that priesthood ended, then there was another priesthood come in which after the order of Melchisedec.
:Now, now today we do not have the birthstones of the patriarchs, but we do have a Urim Thummim. And that's God's Bible. Jesus said, "Heavens and earth will pass away, but My Word shall never pass away." And in the book of Revelations, which is the revelation of Jesus Christ, He said, "If anybody will add to or take away from It, the same will be taken, his part, out of the book of life." This is the Urim Thummim.
|HEBREWS 2:16-17
|For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
|- valign="top"
|HEBREWS 3:1
|Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
|- valign="top"
|HEBREWS 4:14-16
|Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
|- valign="top"
|HEBREWS 5:5-10
|So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
|- valign="top"
|HEBREWS 6:20
|Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
|- valign="top"
|HEBREWS 7:26-28
|For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.
|- valign="top"
|HEBREWS 8:1-6
|Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
|- valign="top"
|HEBREWS 9:11-14
|But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
|- valign="top"
|HEBREWS 9:24-28
|For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
|- valign="top"
|HEBREWS 10:12-14
|But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
|- valign="top"
|HEBREWS 10:19-22
|Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
|- valign="top"
|HEBREWS 13:15-16
|By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
|- valign="top"
|GALATIANS 3:19-20
|Wherefore then [serveth] the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; [and it was] ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Now a mediator is not [a mediator] of one, but God is one.
|- valign="top"
|I Timothy 2:5
|For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
|- valign="top"
|HEBREWS 8:6
|But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
|- valign="top"
|HEBREWS 9:15
|And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions [that were] under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
|- valign="top"
When Jesus was crucified, Pilate had the soldiers place a sign over his head in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek that said "King of the Jews". This sign greatly offended the Jews who called for Jesus' crucifixion, as the "King of the Jews" was none other than the Messiah, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.

While on earth, Jesus fulfilled the office of the Prophet. From the Day of Pentecost, Jesus has fulfilled the office of the Priest. When Jesus returns to the Jews, he will come in the office of the King. This does not mean that Jesus is not the King right now, but just as David waited patiently for the LORD to establish him above all other Kings of Israel, so Jesus, as the Son of David, is waiting for the LORD to establish him above all other Kings of the Earth.
Commentary by William Branham
Three comings of Christ
:On earth He was a Prophet; in glory He's a Priest; coming, He's a King. Oh. I like that: Prophet, faithful Witness of the Word; Priest, with His own Blood before God; King, King of saints, not king of the world now; He's King of saints. We have earthly kings over them people. But we have a King too and a Kingdom. That's the reason we act different.
::Sermon:Revelation CH. 1, Jeffersonville, IN, Dec 4, 1960.

Rights to the Son of David
:This Jew got what he asked for 'cause he approached him in the Name of the Son of David, the king; He wasn't Saviour, but He was King. But when the Greek woman, the Syrophenician approached Him in the Name of Son of David, He never even as much as raised His head. She had no claims on Him in the Name of Son of David. He wasn't Son of David to that Syrophenician woman. But when she said, "Lord," then He turned around. He was the Lord. See? Lord, he was Lord, no son of David to her.
::Sermon: The Trial, Tampa, FL, April 19, 1964

Prophecy of Christ the King
:No doubt, David didn't know what he was doing; walked up the same Mount of Olives there, and looked down, weeping, a rejected king. Where a few hundred years after that, Jesus Christ set on the same mountain, the Son of David, weeping as a rejected King, and they spit on Him also. You see, all these things just portrayed Christ. He was a part of it. God doesn't change. His nature doesn't change. His character doesn't change. He's still the Word (See?), and Malachi 3:6 proves that.
::Sermon: Identified Christ of all ages, Topeka, KS, June 17, 1964

Eternal King, Eternal Kingdom
:Notice, the eighth day Jesus raised for our justification, the eternal King with the eternal Kingdom, to be baptized into, to Eternal Life. Not seven days; had nothing to do with any of the days. It's speaking of another eternal coming; speaking of an eternal time--the world that I'm speaking of.
|MATTHEW 2:1-2
|Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
|- valign="top"
|MATTHEW 5:34-35
|But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
|- valign="top"
|MATTHEW 21:4-5
|All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
|- valign="top"
|MATTHEW 25:31-34
|When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
|- valign="top"
|MATTHEW 25:40
|And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
|- valign="top"
|MATTHEW 27:29
|And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
|- valign="top"
|MATTHEW 27:35-37
|And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. And sitting down they watched him there; And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
|- valign="top"
|MATTHEW 27:42
|He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
|- valign="top"
|MARK 15:9-13
|But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews? For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy. But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them. And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews? And they cried out again, Crucify him.
|- valign="top"
|MARK 15:17-19
|And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head, And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews! And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.
|- valign="top"
|LUKE 19:37-38
|And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
|- valign="top"
|LUKE 23:2-4
|And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King. And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it. Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.
|- valign="top"
|LUKE 23:38
|And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
|- valign="top"
|JOHN 1:48-49
|Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
|- valign="top"
|JOHN 6:15
|When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.
|- valign="top"
|JOHN 12:12
|On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.
|- valign="top"
|JOHN 18:37
|Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
|- valign="top"
|JOHN 19:2-3
|And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
|- valign="top"
|JOHN 19:14-15
|And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
|- valign="top"
|JOHN 19:21-22
|Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews. Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.
|- valign="top"
|ACTS 17:6-8
|And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also; Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus. And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.
|- valign="top"
|I TIMOTHY 1:17
|Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
|- valign="top"
|I TIMOTHY 6:14-16
|That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
|HEBREWS 7:1-4
|For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. |And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power...And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
|- valign="top"
|REVELATION 15:2-3
|And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
|- valign="top"
|REVELATION 17:14
|These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
|REVELATION 19:11, 16
|And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war...And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
A lamb is a kosher animal known for its wool, its humble and passive nature, and its ability to follow. The lamb and the ram were also common sacrifice animals in the Old Testament. Jehovah Jireh provided a ram for Abraham to sacrifice (instead of his son Isaac), and Moses told the Hebrews in Egypt to slay a lamb, cover their doorposts with its blood, and eat every part of the lamb before sunrise - or every firstborn would face the Angel of Death.

Isaiah prophecied that the Messiah would be led as a "lamb to the slaughter". John the Baptist called Jesus the Lamb of God.
Commentary by William Branham
The Washing of the Sacrifice
:John looked up. Now, what is he? The prophet. And here is the Word; there comes the Word coming right straight to the prophet, right to the water. John said, "Behold, the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. There He is; that's Him." Jesus never spoke a word, walked right out into the water. And I can see there, standing in that water (Think of a drama.), two of the greatest that ever struck the earth: God the Word, and His prophet.
:Notice. The Word come to the prophet in this dispensation of grace in the water. Uh-huh. I thought you'd catch it. Uh-huh. In the water, the first revelation of the Word was in the water.
The Examination of the Sacrifice
:While he yet spake, there came a voice out of that cloud. It said, "This is My beloved Son. I'm so pleased with Him I'm going to smite Him for you. Hear ye Him. He's going to speak."
:He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquity. He was a Lamb, the Lamb of God, the perfect Sacrifice. There'd never been nobody lived like Him, never has been nobody since live like Him. He was a perfect Masterpiece, matched God's Word exactly.
The Purpose of the Sacrifice
:The real genuine Lamb of God was hanging in plain view on Calvary, the real Mercy Seat, when God had paid the price Himself and become one of us, and had manifested Himself as a man to get acquainted with us and we to be acquainted with Him.

Humility, and the Altar of Sacrifice
:Why was Jesus born in a stable or a manger? Did you ever think of that? He had to be. He was a Lamb. Lambs are not born in houses. Lambs are born in the barns and fields. Abel led his lamb away by a grapevine. Sacrificed him on the altar, and Abel died on the same altar his sacrificed lamb died. And every believer, that comes to Christ, must die on the same altar with his dying Lamb, Christ, and die in Christ to be a new creature: die out to the things of the world and become borned again, a new creature in Christ Jesus. Die on the same altar of self sacrifice.

The Lamb of God as the only means of salvation
:Salvation once was not completed in the offering of the goat, the sheep, the heifer in the Old Testament, because the Old Testament blood could not atone for sin. It could only cover sin. It was a pointing to a time when it would be completed... But it was only a type. But when Jesus came and His Blood was shed at Calvary, it was a complete divorcing of sin. It taken sin away. It's the only means of salvation. There is no church-joining, no letters of fellowship; there is no ritual baptisms; there's no communion, or nothing in the ritual, or any article that's been left of God, as articles pertaining to salvation; it's all in commemoration of a finished work.
Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.
|EZEKIEL 46:15-18
|Thus shall they prepare the lamb, and the meat offering, and the oil, every morning for a continual burnt offering. Thus saith the Lord GOD; If the prince give a gift unto any of his sons, the inheritance thereof shall be his sons'; it shall be their possession by inheritance. But if he give a gift of his inheritance to one of his servants, then it shall be his to the year of liberty; after it shall return to the prince: but his inheritance shall be his sons' for them. Moreover the prince shall not take of the people's inheritance by oppression, to thrust them out of their possession; but he shall give his sons inheritance out of his own possession: that my people be not scattered every man from his possession.
|ACTS 8:32
|The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
|I PETER 1:19
|But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
|- valign="top"
|REVELATION 5:6-8
|And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
|- valign="top"
|REVELATION 5:12-13
|Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
|- valign="top"
|REVELATION 6:1
|And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.
|- valign="top"
|REVELATION 6:16
|And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
|- valign="top"
|REVELATION 7:9-10
|After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
|- valign="top"
|REVELATION 7:14-17
|And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
|- valign="top"
|REVELATION 12:10-11
|And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
|- valign="top"
|REVELATION 13:8
|And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
|- valign="top"
|REVELATION 14:1
|And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
|REVELATION 14:4
|These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
|REVELATION 14:10
|The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
|- valign="top"
|REVELATION 15:3
|And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
|- valign="top"
|REVELATION 17:14
|These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
|REVELATION 19:7
|Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
|And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
|And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
|REVELATION 21:23
|And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
|- valign="top"
|REVELATION 22:1
|And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
A Lion is a symbol of power, and kingship. Jacob prophecied over his son Judah, and said that he was a lion, and that the scepter would not depart from his lineage. The prophet Nathan also prophecied that King David's seed would build a temple to the LORD, and that the throne of this son would be established forever.

Joseph and Mary were both of the lineage of David, of the tribe of Judah. Jesus Christ, the Messiah, was called the Son of David. Just like David's son Solomon reigned after him, and built a temple to the LORD, so Jesus built a temple to the LORD. The difference was that Solomon's temple was a building, and Jesus temple was his resurrected body.
|Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body. (John 2:19-21)
Commentary by William Branham
Judah's position as the Lion
:Now, if you'll notice, Dan is the head of three tribes; Judah is the head of three tribes; Reuben is the head of three tribes, and Ephraim is the head of three tribes. Three four's is twelve, the twelve tribes of Israel. See each one with their banner; and the banner of Judah was a lion; the banner of Reuben, man; the banner of Ephraim, an ox; the banner of--of--of Dan was an eagle.
:Now, look back here what John said, "And one had the face..." Let's read here now, just see if it isn't the same thing was like in heaven:... "the first beast was like a lion,... (Judah)... the second beast was like a calf,... (That's a young ox.)... the third beast was the face of a man, and the fourth beast was... a flying eagle."
:Just exactly the tribes of Israel camped around, guarding, this earthly guards of the right to the ark. Hallelujah.
Leo in the Zodiac
:What's He doing? Writing His first Bible. Notice, the human beings once looked towards the heavens. And He puts all the stars in the heavens, the zodiac, starting off with the Virgin, ending up with Leo the Lion. First coming of Christ, the second coming. Came by the Virgin, come again as the Lion of the tribe of Juda. There He puts the first Bible.

Misconceptions about Christ's first coming
:And the Jews, they were looking for a general, some man that was coming with a rod of iron in His hand, and a Lion of the Tribe of Juda, and He was going to rule all nations; and run Rome out into the river and drown them, and--and--and Israel was going to take over. That's the reason. When He come exactly the way the Scripture said He would come, but they was looking for Him in a different way.
:I wonder if it wouldn't be the same thing today, if He come, if we wouldn't think that. We have our own ideas about what He ought to be, and what He ought to look like, and how He should wear His clothes, and part His hair, and everything. If it isn't just our taste, why, we wouldn't receive it (You see.);
The Lion and the Lamb
:John looked around, and there was no man in heaven, no man on earth, nobody, no Angel, nothing could take the Book or to loose the Seals or to even to look on It. No man was worthy. John said he wept bitterly. Then an Angel came to him, said, "Weep not, John, for the Lion of the Tribe of Juda has prevailed, and He's worthy."
:And John looked to see a...Lion, and what did he find? A Lamb, and it was a bloody Lamb, a Lamb that had been slain. How long? Since the foundation of the world. The Lamb came forth, walked up to Him that had the Book in His right hand, and received the Book, climbed upon the throne and set down.
Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings. And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass. And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies. And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went. As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.
|EZEKIEL 10:9-14
|And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was as the colour of a beryl stone. And as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel. When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went. And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had. As for the wheels, it was cried unto them in my hearing, O wheel. And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.
|The door posts, and the narrow windows, and the galleries round about on their three stories, over against the door, cieled with wood round about, and from the ground up to the windows, and the windows were covered; To that above the door, even unto the inner house, and without, and by all the wall round about within and without, by measure. And it was made with cherubims and palm trees, so that a palm tree was between a cherub and a cherub; and every cherub had two faces; So that the face of a man was toward the palm tree on the one side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other side: it was made through all the house round about. From the ground unto above the door were cherubims and palm trees made, and on the wall of the temple.
|DANIEL 7:2-4
|Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.
|REVELATION 4:6-8
|And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
